Dome of the Ascension : ウィキペディア英語版 | Dome of the Ascension
The Dome of the Ascension ((アラビア語:قبة المعراج) ''Qubbat al-Miraj''; ''Kippat Ha'Aliyah'') is a free-standing dome that commemorates the Islamic prophet Muhammad's ascension to heaven. It is located just north the Dome of the Rock on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.〔(Al-Aqsa Guide ) Friends of al-Aqsa 2007〕 It is not clear when the original dome was built, but is assumed to have been either Ummayad or Abbasid work, because it is mentioned by Ibn al-Fakih in 903 CE and by al-Muqaddasi in 985 CE as being one of the "two minor domes"; the other being the Dome of the Prophet. However, the modern-day Dome of the Ascension was built by the Ayyubid governor of Jerusalem, Izz ad-Din az-Zanjili in 1200 from Crusader construction materials.〔le Strange, Guy.(Palestine under the Moslems: A Description of Syria and the Holy Land from A.
